Interview with Jessica Joy from (Almost) Perfectly Pink!

Hi, all! I had the privilege of interviewing Miss Jessica Joy! She runs a blog that I follow - (Almost) Perfectly Pink. You should go check it out!

Here's the fun interview... Enjoy!

Hi there, and welcome to Adventures Beyond the Horizon!

Hiya! Thank you so much for asking me to be here!

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

I can! Haha! My name is Jessica Joy, but sometimes I call myself Jess. I'm fifteen and a half, and round my height up to 5 ft. 4in.  I love writing, reading, and words in general.  I'm a natural born leader, so I have to remind myself not to become bossy.  I have two little siblings who I adore, and I like baking.  I'm in 10th grade, homeschooled, and a Christian.  My LORD is my everything.  I love music, and Beauty and the Beast.  It's my favorite movie.  I care a lot about my reputation, and most of the time, I'm more comfortable around adults then teenagers, which translates to me being pretty awkward around them.  My little sister in my best friend.  I like lasagna.  And, if you couldn't tell from this paragraph, I can be extremely random. =D

Why did you begin blogging?

It was actually because of our mutual friend, Mikayla H. I saw her profile on a different site, and then noticed that she had a blog. She inspired me to start my own, she was one of my first followers, and the very first person to ever comment on my blog! She has grown to be a very dear friend. =)  I also love to write, and I'm a pretty outgoing person, so combining those two things: writing and meeting new people, seemed like a good idea. =)

When did you begin blogging?

I had a few other blogs before, but they were when I was little, and they never really stuck.  I would write on them for a few weeks and then drop them.  I started my current blog, (Almost) Perfectly Pink, in October 2013.  =)

How did you choose your blog title?

Haha!  Anyone who was around at the beginning of my blog will know that my name changed a ton!  I had many different names, and the first one was Homeschooled Author, which is how my blog got it's URL.  Finally, though, I decided on (Almost) Perfectly Pink.  What inspired me was because a clothing store moved into my town called Almost Pink, and it got me thinking along that line.  Also, it has a double meaning, in the fact that in Christ we are called to be like Him, even though we will never reach that goal on earth.  So, as Christians, we are called to be almost perfect.  That combined with the fact that I love the color pink cinched the name. =)

What are some of your hobbies?

Oh boy.  I love reading, writing, baking, listening to music, training my dog, spending time with family, playing board and card games, chatting with friends, riding my bike, and day dreaming. =)

What’s your favorite book genre?

Realistic fiction. The only one I really don't care for is Sci-Fi.

Who is your favorite author?

Mikayla H.  =) Published wise, either Phoebe Stone, Elizabeth George Speare, or the wonderful people who wrote Nancy Drew. =)

Favorite book?

This is always the hardest question!  Um, Nancy Drew, the Bible, of course, books by Phoebe Stone and Elizabeth Speare, obviously, C.S. Lewis' books, and waaaayyy more.  I couldn't even tell you.  Those are just the few that immediately come to mind.  I also love missionary biographies.

What are you currently reading?

An International Adventure book, which is a series of autobiographies written by missionaries. =)

Tangled or Frozen?

Must I choose??? Ooooohhhhhh.....I'll get back to you on that one. (NOT, cause I'll never make a decision ;D )

Action, adventure, or mystery?

Mystery! Definitely! =D

Who’s your favorite fictional character?

Oh, gosh, I could never say.  Probably Nancy Drew.

T.V. or movies?

Movies, unless it's an old T.V show, like Perry Mason or Get Smart. Also, I must be able to watch a lot of them at once. XD

If money were no object, where would you go for vacation? Who would you bring with you?

Oh, either a tour of Europe, a tour of Central America, or a road trip across the US.  I would take my sister, my mom, and my 3 closest friends, Mikayla, Rachel, and Israel. =)

Favorite time period? Why?

Hum, I don't really know.  Probably all of the 1900's, but without the wars. =(  Because they wore pretty dresses, and did their hair up nice, had typewriters, and roller skated  =)

What are three words that best describe you?

I'd say: Kind, Compassionate, and Outgoing.  But someone else might say different. ;)

What is your favorite movie?

Beauty and the Beast, the Disney one. =)

Which is your favorite movie in the Chronicles of Narnia? Favorite character from that movie?

I have not seen these movies in a very long time.  Probably Susan, though.

What is your favorite holiday?

Either Christmas or the 4th of July.

What’s your favorite type of food?

Lasagna!  But I love all Mexican and Italian food.  Plus burgers. =D

Do you write? If so, what do you like to write about?

I do write! lol I write poems, realistic fiction, and historic fiction. =)

And, if you could meet one person, who would you choose (dead or living)?

Oh no!  I could never answer this....I'm just going to say Amy Carmichael. =)

Thanks for being here, Jessica!
